Pubalgia Surgery

This surgery is done through a small incision of 3cm on the inner thigh through which a tenotomy of the long adductor tendon is made. In cases where there is weakness in the abdominal muscles, it is sometimes necessary to complement this with surgery similar to surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. This is usually done under local-regional anesthesia and takes about 40 minutes.

You will be discharged on the day of the surgery with 2 crutches that you will wear for 10 to 14 days. During 3 to 4 weeks, you must keep the operated limb in abduction with the use of abduction cushions or triangle. The stitches are removed after the 14th day postoperatively. Use analgesic medication.

The physiotherapy and rehabilitation programme begins during the first week of the operation. This lasts from 3 to 6 weeks (and may be slightly delayed if there is the need for surgical repair of the muscles of the abdominal wall). The return to sports activities takes place between 8 and 12 weeks postoperatively, depending on the type of surgery performed. After the injury has been treated, it is fundamental to implement an exercise programme to avoid the reappearance of the injury.
