The orthopedist and one of the founders of the “Hip and Pelvis” project, João Sarmento Esteves, attended the Hip Cadaver Lab, at the Complutense University of Madrid, on June 29.
The Orthopedics and Traumatology specialist was part of the faculty and was a lecturer in the lecture “Síndrome de pinzamiento tipo Pincer”.
“This course is an excellent opportunity to share knowledge among everyone. My particular topic is very important. In the existence of a femoro acetabular conflict, if nothing is done, there can be destruction of the joint. The pincer type deformity happens when the acetabulum becomes too deep, or with a rim that is too prominent, trapping the movements of the femoral head and restricting the natural movement of this joint”, said João Sarmento Esteves.
The course also counted with the presence of Dr. Marc Tey, Dr. Raúl Torres, Dr. Juan Ribera, Dr. Emanuele Astarita and Dr. Raúl Parrón, who approached the following subjects: “Selección de Patientes candidatos a cirurgía”, “Instrumental. Positioning. Traction Technique. Portales Artroscópicos”, “Videotécnica sutura labral y resección CAM” and “Síndrome Subspine y pinzamiento extrarticular”.
This course aimed at providing a theoretical review of the specific basic and advanced knowledge in hip arthroscopy and its practical application on the cadaver.
Stryker was the official promoter of the event.
